Mubarak! QUIT, already!

According to CNN, members of leadership of Egypt's ruling party, including President Hosni Mubarak, submit resignations, state TV reports.

That's a start, anyway. But it is not enough. President Barack Obama warned Hosni Mubarak to listen to the Egyptian people.

Obama to Mubarak: Listen to Egyptian people

Mubarak asserts that if he were to quit, Egypt will descend into 'chaos'. What would he call what has been happening in the streets of Caro, Alexandria and Suez? Why, it's chaos, of course!

What would happen if Mubarak quit immediately would be the Speaker of the House of Parliament or his newly appointed Vice President would take over until swiftly called elections.

Such elections would be multi-party, free and open; quite unlike any previous elections in Egypt.

The Egyptian people deserve to choose their own leaders and to choose them fairly. It is time.

QUIT already, Hosni Mubarak!

Obama Quits!

Obama Quits!

Smoking. And many kudos to him and all who kept him on track to quit.

                                    President Obama Quit Smoking

You can see by this blog that I think quitting is a good thing. Especially smoking! There is no other activity that is more wasteful of human lives.

I quit more than seven years ago after many years of smoking. Gangrene will do that to ya: force you into quitting. There is no pain med. to take away the pain of the death of your tissue that is clinging to your live tissue.

Whatever works for you to quit, do it!  At every craving I either sucked on a Tootsie Roll Pop or ate a Hershey's Kiss. Can you say "orally fixated'?

After one month  my mouth was sore and I was free from cigs. Plus I had a bunch of extra money from not buying 4 cartons of cigs, too.

"But I don't wanna get faaaaat!"  Quit any way you can and deal with any fat later. As Rosie always sez: 'Fat is temporary, emphysema is permanent!"

Ok? Tons of people try to quit on New Year's. So give it a shot. Craves only last for FIVE MINUTES at the most. You can get thru five minutes of anything except holding your breath; cigs will take your breath forever.

The percentage of American smokers has gone down every year. Millions before you have quit and millions after you will, too. So you can. You eventually wil, even if you have to die to quit -- do it voluntarily now.

I believe in you, quitting is GOOD -- you CAN do it!!

Love,
Rosie

Wow - well said! This is news analysis

This one's about the whole Juan Williams/NPR fiasco. The subtleties escape most folks. This is the clearest explanation I've seen:

"When Williams left the ideals of Murrow behind for the big money and politics of FOX News he abandoned the ethics of an objective press that is still represented in places like National Public Radio, whatever their faults might be.
The Right is now howling for an end of public financing of NPR, as Politico reports:
“I think it’s reasonable to ask why Congress is spending taxpayers’ money to support a left-wing radio network – and in the wake of Juan Williams’ firing, it’s clearer than ever that’s what NPR is,” said House Republican leader John Boehner (R-Ohio.)
What the GOP fears most is an independent and free press that can't be bought.  They don't care about freedom of the press or journalistic ethics.  The want a corporation, like FOX News, that promotes their agenda and even contributes financially to their campaign coffers.
Juan Williams is right where he belongs now.  Now he is free to say whatever he wants.  Just don't call what he does journalism."

NPR Had Cause To Fire Him

Very well said. Juan Williams should have QUIT. He wasn't doing the job, and creative quitting is fun. A big missed opportunity, there! Let Juan Williams serve as a warning.

One way or the other. LOL

Even More Creative Quitting

What you can do with a dry erase board and a digital camera. This is an even better way to quit!

Creative Quitting

Kudos to JetBlue Flight Attendant Steven Slater on quitting his job creatively. The profane rant on the PA didn't need to be so *colorful* but the deployment of the emergency chute and sliding down with a beer in each hand gets a "10" for originality. Genius!

He got hit in the head with the passenger's luggage that the passenger was pulling down from the overhead compartment, causing two gashes, and the passenger didn't have the good grace to apologize, calling Slater a mo-fo instead. It is completely understandable to me for Slater to end his flight attending the way he did. Makes me wish there were super-creative ways to quit the jobs I had that I just couldn't stand for another instant.

How about you? Your comments are most welcome.
